Essay on Diagnostic/Prescriptive/Evaluative (Dpe)

Assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities reach, their individual goals can be accomplished by using the diagnostic/prescriptive/evaluative (DPE) instructional educational process. The reporter met with and observed Ms. D in her alternative academic classroom. She has several students receiving services as students with intellectual disabilities. The reporter reviewed two IEP’s and information has been included that represents a very informal discussion with Ms. D in which she provided information regarding diagnosis/prescription/evaluation and analyses of goal instruction including the implementation and development of goal instruction for students. It drives my instruction.† The reporter observed in the classroom throughout a forty five minute double block class period in which the students work on individual task boxes and met w ith the teacher for one on one instruction. The Para-professionals rotated around the room monitoring the students, documenting on daily data sheets and providing assistance and support as needed. While observing in the classroom, the reporter also reviewed the student, PLAAFP’s, which is what the goals and objectives, are based off. She found these to be more useful in knowing what supports and strategies to look for. They were also great to see what accommodations are being accommodations are being made for the student. The student is in the process of transitioning new skills his annual ard will be held in the month of November 2011. XXXXX is a sixth grader whose eligibility for special education are AU, SI, and ID. In a highly structured environment with constant monitoring, visual and verbal cues, and verbal and physical prompts: ELA/Reading: XXXXX can answer comprehension questions (multiple choice-pictures paired with words) after a story has been read to him with 50% accuracy.
